Special emphasis of our research in the Institute of Medical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology lies across many topics of the Medical Faculty in the field of Molecular Medicine such as “Infection and Inflammation”, “Heart and Circulation” as well as “Abdominal and Metabolic Diseases”. The central focus is the investigation of redox-, proteaostasis- and immune-mediated regulation of cell function under physiological and pathological conditions. Pathological contexts include proteinopathies, cardiovascular diseases, infections, autoimmune diseases or cancer. Projects of the Institute are supported by the DFG, the Fritz Thyssen foundation as well as the federal state of Mecklenburg Vorpommern.
