The ZIK HIKE research centre in Greifswald opened its doors to the public. The event began on March 9th, 2011 at 1.00 p.m. with short overviews of the importance of Innovation Centers from the point of view of the government (Mr Hiepe), the state (Dr Behrens) and the university (Prof Westermann, Rector). There was then a chance to look around the research center and to find out about its very varied technical capabilities. (More)

The first Current Progress Conference was held on 25 February 2011 at ZIK HIKE's new premises. In the morning, from 09:00 to 12:30, ZIK HIKE employees presented their research. In the afternoon, the advisory board of ZIK HIKE held a meeting.

Krystin Krauel, one of ZIK HIKE's scientists, was awarded the Young Investigator Award of the Gesellschaft für Thrombose und Hämostaseforschung (Society for Thrombosis and Hemostasis Research). This organization includes scientists from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The Young Talent prize is awarded annually.

Ms Krauel has published the relevant work in the journal BLOOD (Blood 2011; 117(4): 1370-1378).
