The 52-year-old female patient presented with headaches and an increasing sensation of pressure in the head. This sensation of pressure increased in particular when the patient lay down. The axial MR images show a clear enlargement of the lateral ventricles and the third ventricle of the brain. In the sagittal MRI, constriction of the proximal aqueductal area as well as clear bulging of the floor of the third ventricle of the brain into the prepontine cistern can be seen.
The postoperative MR images, which were taken 1 year after the intervention, show a free and patent ventriculostomy and a decrease in ventricle size. The headache symptoms experienced by the patient had completely disappeared. The neurological findings are normal.
