This 87-year-old male had been suffering from severe trigeminal neuralgia in the mandibular nerve (V3). Even when treated with drugs, he was hardly able to ingest food because of the unbearable pain. The CISS sequence of the MR imaging revealed an obvious compression of the right trigeminal nerve by a loop of the superior cerebellar artery.
The trigeminal neuralgia resolved immediately after the operation. The patient has been free of pain, without drugs, and not displaying any neurological deficits.
