The workshop is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (Grant number: 01GP1889).

Duration: 01.09.2018-31.08.2020

Ethical questions of dealing with seriously ill and dying patients and their relatives are to a large extent influenced by the socio-cultural environment. In addition, accompanying patients at the end of their lives is a multi-professional task in which multiple professions (physicians, nurses, pastoral care etc.) are regularly involved. Research on the practice of end-of-life care is carried out in a wide range of normative and empirical disciplines (philosophy, law, theology, medical ethics, sociology, psychology, etc.).

The workshop aims to bring together young scholars (PhD students and young postdocs) from all healthcare-related disciplines and professions to discuss professional ethics at the End of Life and to identify current ethical challenges within this field. The special focus will be on comparisons between France and Germany, but other countries will also be taken into consideration.
